The Great Ocean Road

Après la Tasmanie, nous avons du dire au revoir a Matthew (notre très sympatique colloc' et proprio) et à notre maison à Melbourne pour prendre la Great Ocean Road.

After Tasmania, we said goodbye to Matthew (our very nice housemate and owner) and our home in Melbourne to hit the Great Ocean Road. 

La Great Ocean Road est une route de 240 km, construite en l'honneur des soldats rescapés de la premiere guerre mondiale, qui se trouve dans l'état du Victoria, entre Melbourne et Adélaïde. Elle est connue pour ses paysages magnifiques et ses falaises impressionnantes.
The Great Ocean Road is a road of 240km, built as a tribute to the soldiers come back from the World War I, which is in the state of Victoria, between Melbourne and Adelaide. It is known almost for its beautiful countrysides and for its impressive sea cliffs.

Mais après 100 kilometres, la boite de vitesse nous a laché et nous avons du nous arréter à Torquay, une ville connue pour être la capitale du surf ,afin de demander l'aide d'un mécanicien. 

Après une bonne nuit de someil et 500 dollars en moins pour une petite piece dans la boite de vitesse (on imagine le prix d'une boite entiere), nous avons quitté Torquay et suivi la Great Ocean Road qui fut très sympa même si le temps n'a pas été avec nous. 

But after a hundred kilometers the gear box broke and we has to stop in Torquay, a town know to be the surf capital, and ask the help of a mecanism. After one night in a good backpacker and 500 dollars for one little piece of the gear box (we imagine the price of the complete gear box) we left torquay and followed the Great Ocean Road which was really great even if the weather wasn't. 

Nous avons pu voir les 12 apôtres, le paysage le plus connu de cette route, qui sont 12 rochers tenant encore debout par miracle...

We have seen the 12 apostles,the most famous countryside of this road, which are 12 rocks standing up a bit by miracle...

...ainsi que la London Arch, anciennement London Bridge dont l'histoire est assez comique: Les deux morceaux du "pont" (Bridge en anglais) étaient auparavant reliés et il était possible d'aller jusqu'au bord de la falaise. Dans les années 90, le jour ou le pont s'est effondré, un couple était justement sur le bout du London Bridge. Les caméras ont donc filmé l'évenement et le couple a donc été vu sur toutes les chaines australiennes. Malheureusement pour eux, il s'est avéré qu'il s'agissait d'un couple illégitime. Ils ont donc été découverts en direct a la télévision...
We saw also the London Arch, called London Bridge before which story's funny: The 2 pieces of the "bridge" were linked together and it was possible to go at the end of the london bridge. In the 90's, the bridge fell down, and when it happened there was a couple on the end of the bridge. The journalists shooted the event, and the couple  was seen on every australian channels. Unfortunately for them it was an illicit couple. They have been discovered on TV in direct...
